concerning
APPOINTMENT of RAYMOND P. NECCI
as
DISTINGUISHED BUSINESS EXECUTIVE IN RESIDENCE
at EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY
July 27, 2007
WHEREAS, Mr. Raymond P. Necci, a distinguished business executive, will be offering occasional but highly significant contributions to the students and faculty at Eastern Connecticut State University during the 2007-2008 academic year and will bring a rich array of business experience and knowledge to this role, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Necci’s business background as an executive in his field of expertise is extensive, he is the president and chief operating officer of the Connecticut Light and Power Company (CL&P) and the Yankee Gas Services Company, Connecticut’s largest electric utility and natural gas company, respectively, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Necci possesses over 30 years of experience in the energy industry, having held several leadership positions in Northeast Utilities (NU) nuclear organizations, becoming vice president of Nuclear Oversight and Regulatory Affairs in 1998 and vice president of Nuclear Technical Services in 2000, and rejoined NU in 2002 after serving as vice president of Operations for Dominion Nuclear Connecticut in 2001, and
WHEREAS, In addition to his business leadership, Mr. Necci is a member on the board of directors for the Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company and on the campaign cabinet of the United Way of the Capital Area, and
WHEREAS, BR#82-120 authorizes the Board to award the title “in Residence” to persons of established reputation in their chosen field who seem likely to make significant contributions to the instructional programs of CSUS institutions, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Necci is eminently qualified for this award and has agreed to serve in this capacity, and the University is in compliance with the “honorary” and limited term nature of these appointments as stipulated in BR#82-120, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That Mr. Raymond P. Necci is named Distinguished Business Executive in Residence by Eastern Connecticut State University for the 2007-2008 academic year.
