RESOLUTION concerning RENAMING THE SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY AS THE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY at CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY July 27, 2007
WHEREAS, The School of Technology at Central Connecticut State University was established through BR#76-98 of October 1, 1976 to encompass programs in vocational, technical and industrial areas, and WHEREAS, The vision, mission and programs of the School have naturally evolved to respond to the demands of an increasingly technology based economy and society, and WHEREAS, The School currently prepares students to meet dynamic technological and scientific challenges as leaders and members of engineering, technical, management, research, biomedical, and educational teams, and WHEREAS, Through BR#05-75 of December 1, 2005, the Trustees approved the University's proposal to offer a Bachelor of Science degree program in Mechanical Engineering and the program was licensed by the Board of Governors of Higher Education on April, 2006, and WHEREAS, Through BR#06-21 of April 6, 2006 the Trustees approved a proposal to modify its Bachelor of Science degree program in Technology Education and rename it as Technology and Engineering Education (K-12), and the Board of Governors for Higher Education approved such modification in September, 2006, and WHEREAS, In recognition of its evolving mission, the University Faculty Senate passed on November 13, 2006 a resolution recommending renaming the School from School of Technology as School of Engineering and Technology, and
WHEREAS, The University Faculty Senate’s resolution recommending the renaming of the school has received the endorsement of the University President, therefore be it RESOLVED, That the Board of Trustees for the Connecticut State University System authorizes renaming the School of Technology as the School of Engineering and Technology at Central Connecticut State University.
