Resolution
concerning
amendment to the
Roberts Avenue elementary school lease between the city of Danbury
and the Board of Trustees
for the Connecticut State University System
June 15, 2007
WHEREAS, In 2001, the Connecticut General Assembly passed Special Act 01-6, Sections 26 and 27, (“the Act”) authorizing the acquisition of a parcel of land by the Board of Trustees for the Connecticut State University System from the City of Danbury, and
WHEREAS, On October 4, 2002, the Board of Trustees for the Connecticut State University System (System) approved BR#02-46 which permitted the System to lease the school back to the City of Danbury, and
WHEREAS, The City of Danbury and the Board of Trustees for the Connecticut State University System entered into a lease on May 28, 2003, and
WHEREAS, The City of Danbury has requested an eighteen month time extension to the existing lease due to delays in the construction schedule of its new elementary school, and
WHEREAS, Western Connecticut State University does not plan to utilize the building or property prior to 2009 as outlined in their recent master plan, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That Board of Trustees for the Connecticut State University System approves an amendment to the lease of the Roberts Avenue Elementary School to the City of Danbury granting a time extension of an additional eighteen months.
