RESOLUTION

NAMING

THE CENTER FOR ELDERS AND FAMILIES

AT SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY

IN HONOR OF LOUIS AND JOAN M. SIRICO

October 6, 2005

WHEREAS,    In the fall of 2000, Teresa M. Sirico pledged $250,000 to establish an endowment fund to provide funding for programmatic enhancements in the Center for Elders and Families at Southern Connecticut State University, and

WHEREAS,    To date, Ms. Sirico has made payments totaling $124,000 with an additional $63,000 in state matching funds being received, and

WHEREAS,    The remaining balance of the pledge totaling $126,000 will be paid over the next three years, and

WHEREAS,    The generosity of Ms. Sirico will serve to the benefit of Southern Connecticut State University, and

WHEREAS,    In recognition of this gift, President Cheryl Norton has respectfully recommended naming the Center for Elders and Families in honor of Ms. Teresa M. Sirico's deceased parents, therefore be it

RESOLVED,   That the Board of Trustees for the Connecticut State University System hereby designates the Center for Elders and Families at Southern Connecticut State University to be known now and hereafter as the Louis and Joan M. Sirico Center for Elders and Families.
