NFA student wins poetry prize

NORWICH, Conn. — A Norwich Free Academy student won a $1,000 poetry prize Tuesday at the 10th annual IMPAC-CSU awards at Eastern Connecticut State University.
Junior Nicole Rubin, 15, won the New London County award for her poem “Pineapple.”
Other winners include Ledyard High School student Valerie Doughty, who won the county award for prose, Kianne Gaylor, a Woodstock Academy student who won the Windham County award for prose, and Hilary Osborn, a student in the Arts at the Capitol Theater program, for the county poetry award.
All county winners will attend a dinner in June and compete for a chance to win a trip to Dublin.
