Western Connecticut State University

  • Fairfield Hall dormitory, Western’s oldest and traditionally all-female residence hall, has been completely renovated and is back on line for Fall 2008. Built in 1917, one of the building’s most distinguishing features is the cupola atop the building, which is featured in the university’s logo.

  • The new science building opened in September 2005. The $48 million, 122,000-square-foot facility houses the biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy and meteorology departments (including the school’s Weather Center.) There are many laboratories, including the Boehringer Ingleheim Biochemistry Lab. - http://www.wcsu.edu/newsevents/science.asp

  • The Westside Campus, Lake Avenue Extension has a new student center. The $17.8 million Campus Center provides, for the first time, food service in a community setting on the Westside campus, where more than 1,000 students live in three residence halls. Also offered in the 49,000-square-foot building: a game room, cardio fitness center, multi-purpose meeting and conference rooms, student activity space and lounge areas. - http://www.wcsu.edu/newsevents/wscc.asp

  • A $17.5 million, 215,000-square-foot garage on the Midtown campus opened in the fall 2006. It provides 800 student parking spaces on four levels.

  • In 2004, Centennial Hall-- a new multiple story 350-bed residence hall -- and corresponding parking garage were opened. This facility houses students in suites having four to seven students. It also includes laundry facilities, large lounge areas, a computer lab technology room, fitness center, fame room and vending machine area.

  • A new Westside Sports Complex was opening in 2002, moving the former athletic field and amenities from the midtown campus to a closer proximity to the O’Neil Center, the university’s indoor athletic facility. This new complex is used for academic, recreational and intercollegiate athletic activities.
