Eastern Connecticut State University's Past Projects
- Three housing facilities --- two for upperclassmen in South Residential Village and one for freshmen --- have opened in recent years. Upper classmen enjoy apartment-style accommodations. The 250-bed freshman facility has two-room suites. All have meeting rooms, game rooms and computer study lounges. This construction has helped Eastern move closer to its goal of having 70 percent of its undergraduates living on campus. http://www.easternct.edu/depts/housing/index.htm
- The Child and Family Development Resource Center was completed and opened in February 2006. It is a $10 million, 40,000-square-foot facility at the northern end of the campus. The center is a “new school” model for the state and nation. It includes a state-of-the-art early care and education center with comprehensive services for children and their families along with teaching facilities, faculty offices and related spaces. http://www.easternct.edu/depts/facility/ChildandFamilyCenter.htm
- A 710 space student parking garage behind Hurley Hall, the campus’s main dining center, was completed.
- Renovation and addition to the former J.E. Smith Library to create a new Student Support and Administrative Services Center. This center now houses the registrar, bursar, card services, financial aide, career development and placement, student affairs, student services, the learning center, the advisement center, as well as all other executive, administrative and fiscal functions of the university.
