Distinctions

There are many points of pride that shine throughout the Connecticut State University System. Below find highlights of some recent accomplishments.

•  CCSU was chosen as one of The Best Northeastern Colleges by The Princeton Review. The university was praised for "innovative education" and "excellent professors who will help you every step of the way."

• CCSU was honored as a "Leadership Institution" by the American Association of Colleges and Universities. As one of only 16 in the nation and the only one in Connecticut, CCSU stands as a role model of undergraduate education for the country.

US News ranked CCSU among the top 12 universities in the nation for its commitment to gender equity in sports.

• ECSU’s Institute of Sustainable Energy received a New England Regional Merit Award for its work with the Energy Star program and its support of the Boston EPA office.

• ECSU had two Fulbright Scholars in 2006 -- English Professor Lisa Rowe Faustino and Music Professor Richard Jones-Bamman.

• SCSU was one of only two institutions of higher education in New England to receive Outstanding Chapter Awards from the Society of Physics Students. SCSU received the award in 2005, and also the award in 1999 and 2002.

• SCSU recently received a National Science Foundation grant to found a materials research and science engineering center in conjunction with Yale and Brookhaven National Laboratory. The six-year, $1,484,000 grant is among the largest in SCSU’s history.

• WCSU received a National Science Foundation Planning Grant to examine the feasibility of a northeast center for information security.

• WCSU’s meteorology program, the only one licensed in Connecticut, offers one of the few college degrees in meteorology in New England.
